Stacey enjoys making complicated things feel easier for people interested in that kind of thing. Today, she shares some great information on venue hunting! Thank you again, Stacey, for being a part of our blog with this amazing series! We just love working with you!!!
When choosing a wedding and reception venue, every couple has countless considerations, from finding a place that is “you,” the scheduling concerns of crucial loved ones and ensuring that the setting is comfortable for all guests. With thoughtful planning, you can find a wedding and reception location that is the perfect common ground for you to throw a meaningful celebration for yourself and your loved ones.
Whom do you want to ensure has a standout, memorable time at your wedding and reception?
It may be of great help for you to narrow your focus to your personal needs of the day and the needs of your closest attendees. Your future spouse? Parents and best friends? Focus on what you want to give these people and consider the experience a gift. Imagine the type of environment where these people would enjoy themselves; where have you enjoyed time with them and where would you enjoy yourself on your wedding day? Where does this Venn diagram overlap? When you authentically celebrate your connection with your closest ones, your other guests are sure to enjoy feeling this positive energy.
When venue hunting, choose the space that resonates for you!
Some people fit well with a hotel or venue intended solely for weddings–others want to make a concert venue, park, museum, historic site or art gallery space work for their day. If you gravitate toward a certain kind of space, honor that impulse. Some things to consider:
- Why are you thinking about this type of site?
- What will photos look like there?
- What are your priorities for this day?
- Will it be hot as hell outside?
Consider Food & Beverage Service
A key first detail you must consider when searching for a venue should be the food and beverage service. Do you want a turnkey solution that will house your event and handle your food, bar and decorations or would you prefer to gather your own vendors for a custom-planned event? From hotels and wedding halls to off-the-beaten-path gathering spaces, there is a venue that will feel just right and totally yours.
Don’t Leave Venue Hunting for Later
If you are set on having a particular date for your wedding and future anniversaries, start the wedding venue search early (especially if you want a Spring or Fall wedding!). You will have an easier time finding the availability you need. Many venues book weddings two years in advance. In most cases, I am able to offer specific high-season dates to couples that have wisely started their venue hunting at least 18 months before their event date.
Join us next week for the all important questions to ask when you’re considering a venue!
