Happy Monday Dreamcicle Brides! It’s been a whirlwind of activity here this past week. We were so fortunate to be able to capture the love of a bride and groom this weekend (we’ll share more with you later in the week!). It was truly an amazing day. I know our bride couldn’t have put it all together without a little help from her friends, and I’d like to share a few thoughts with you today. 

Monday Motivation for Brides: Bridesmaids – Not Just for Wedding Day!

So you’re engaged, and you’re ready to throw yourself into the planning process. You might be a bit frazzled, maybe even a bit frantic, so what do you do? You’ve selected some of your best girlfriends to stand by you on your day. But they aren’t there just for that ONE day – they are there to help you navigate the murky waters of wedding planning.

Planning Party: Have a little planning meeting. Try not to get too intense right out of the gate, relax and have some fun with it.  Have some snacks, maybe a little bubbly, start brainstorming, and write it all down.These ladies love you, and they want to help you make sure everything is just perfect.  You don’t have to use EVERY idea that comes up, but there might be something that will fit perfectly with your theme that someone else comes up with.

Divide & Conquer: Don’t be afraid to delegate, but delegate with kindness and grace. Be mindful of your ladies’ families and how much time they can commit to running errands. Ask those questions in the planning meeting. Give them a task that fits into their schedule and their personal skill set, add a timeline to have it accomplished in – leaving yourself a bit of a buffer …. just in case. Life is busy for everyone, and things do happen – so ask for it by Monday, but expect it by Wednesday.

Check In: Don’t be afraid to check in with your bridesmaids from time to time to see how tasks are coming along. Now, don’t call every 5 minutes, all you will do is make them crazy – and a stressed out bridesmaid will be less effective. If she seems to be overwhelmed with a task, see if another of your lovely ladies might be able to help her complete it. Granted, check ins will become more frequent the closer you are to the big day, but if you communicate with them through the planning process, you will find tasks are accomplished much more smoothly.

Be Thankful: Always remember, they are there to help you. Be thankful, and treat your bridesmaids with kindness. They are far more likely to go that extra mile for the bride that gives them the respect and friendship they deserve. And you, dear bride, will find that respect and friendship returned to you a hundred times over. Have I mentioned, be thankful?

Keep in mind, everyone wants things to be picture perfect for you. Their goal is to help you get to the wedding on time, looking perfect, with every detail just the way you want it. Love surrounds you, and as things wind down, remember to thank them, and return that love and friendship.
