Dreamcicle Bride Shares Her Advice in Bride to Bride; Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff!

Dreamcicle Bride Shares Her Advice in Bride to Bride; Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff!

I was cleaning the kitchen the other day and a thought came to me about how powerful it might be if our previous brides could write out their lessons learned during their wedding planning for other brides. One by one I started asking them—and to my surprise we had many of our past brides want to participate and send in a blog.

So, this is our first post in our series of Dreamcicle Bride to Bride and I couldn’t be more proud than to feature our very own Emilia Sisson on our blog today. She’s a sweet and sassy, matter-of-fact Swedish girl that married an amazing American young man this past August. Like most of our couples, we became very close to Emilia and Christopher as we waited for their sweet and lovely wedding day to arrive. We all thought she was crazy planning an outdoor wedding in the heat of the summer and just knew that all of her precious family from Sweden would just melt! But…as we found, love conquers all (event the Arizona heat! Lucky for us it was also monsoon season and we had unexpected afternoon cloud cover! Wahoo!) and they were surrounded with the love of their friends and family as they were pronounced man and wife. I’ve said it before—they have an unbelievable story. Emilia was a Swedish foreign exchange student and I’m sure you’re going to want to know how this story unfolds…so I’ve included the link here to their story.

Without further ado—I introduce you to the MRS. Emilia Sisson. <3

Dreamcicle Bride – Emilia Sisson

Kristi contacted me recently and asked if I wanted to share some bride-to-bride advice for my fellow brides out there. I thought about what advice to give, because we all hear the same things such as: make sure to eat, hydrate well, enjoy the cake, don’t stress, have a checklist… you’ve all heard it!

I had definitely heard all of those. Hydration is important though, so just make sure to drink water! I had done my research on what to think about before the big day… but when it got here, I was so scatter brained! I could not focus!

This is where I started to appreciate the help I had on my wedding day. I worked with a great wedding planner and venue coordinator. They knew exactly how I wanted my centerpieces arranged and they knew how I wanted the gift table to look. All the small details that come together on the day of the wedding were taken care of. I know many brides have limited budgets, but I cannot tell you how relaxing it was to not have to worry about the details. On your wedding day, you as a bride want to relax with your girls and not worry about small things. It is definitely worth investing some money in making sure your day is stress free.

So what is my advice exactly? Make sure you have help on the day of the wedding. It might be a task you give your friend, you might hire a wedding planner just for help the day of the wedding, or you have a venue coordinator. Whoever it is, make sure to utilize them! I decided that on the day of my wedding, I did not want to have to run around or worry about details such as where to put the wedding favors, or where there was a pen for the guest book. I know many brides say they didn’t get to enjoy their day because they were worrying about details. Don’t be that bride!

In the end, the small details don’t really matter. You won’t care if the wedding favor was on the right or left side of the plate. And you shouldn’t have to worry about it. You should enjoy your day; because it’s not something you do every day. And it will go by fast, so don’t sweat the small stuff.

And oh! One last piece of advice: please make sure to eat a slice of cake. Or two.
