We’ve said it before…we love being wedding photographers here in Arizona. But what’s even better is when we have the honor of supporting one of our brides! Bethany Jones, along with her Mom, Sharon participated in the Lady Speed Stick Women’s 13 Mile – Half Marathon benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation today that started in Scottsdale and ended at the Tempe Beach Park. We weren’t able to catch them coming across the finish line, but we did have some time with them once they each caught their breath for some great conversation and a few quick photos.
Adorned with their hard-earned medals from today’s race, it’s easy to see that these two very tough and dynamic women are pretty amazing! Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) in 2010. Thankfully it was caught very early at Stage “0” and she’s been clear for 2 years now. That diagnosis was what prompted Bethany to begin training for the cure and half marathon in early 2011. Living in Arizona just 4 years now, she enjoys running and training all year long. Sharon decided to join her and together, they participated in last year’s event for the first time. Calling Michigan home, Sharon flew in to repeat this half marathon and they each did fantastic! The training has really paid off..for the last 8 weeks or so, Bethany trained hard, especially when it finally cooled off. “You can’t run in the heat, it zaps you and it’s just too hot here even early in the morning”, she said as she was smiling from ear to ear. Bethany cut 7 1/2 minutes off her time from last year–I’d say that’s an enormous accomplishment and definitely a reason to smile! Way to go, girls! We’re so proud of you both!

We met Bethany and her fiance, Mike when they were introduced to us by their wedding coordinator, Denise Nicolette, from What a Day Weddings. Denise is amazing and they are just the sweetest couple! We’re so honored that they chose us to be their wedding photographers for their upcoming February wedding! The two lovebirds became engaged earlier this year when Mike spontaneously took her to dinner at Talking Stick’s Orange Sky Restaurant that overlooks the east valley from the Salt River Pima Reservation in Scottsdale. With beautiful views he proposed by surprising her with a mystery gift wrapped in Disney Princess paper. What was inside is what makes it uber relevant. Bethany had wanted an iPad—and to her surprise that’s what she found all wrapped up in that fancy paper! In fact, she was so excited that she missed that Mike hid her beautiful engagement ring in the bottom under the iPad and that he was actually proposing to her! With a little prompting, she found the ring and was really surprised!
Aren’t they just adorable?
